Product Detail
Safety Coat Rapid is a uniquely formulated, anti slip epoxy floor coating that uses a special aggregate suspended in the liquid, allowing the coating to dry to an evenly textured, slip-resistant surface in a single day. It provides a more attractive and easier-to-clean finish than conventional "gritty" paint. It is suitable as an interior coating for concrete or wood and can be used on all potentially slippery, concrete floors in heavy wear areas.
Features and Benefits of Safety Coat Rapid Floor Coating:
- This non-slip epoxy floor coating contains fine, slip resistant particles embedded in a tough epoxy resin coating
- Easy to clean with a dry dust mop or wet floor mop
- Great for floors, stairs, platforms & ramps
- Extremely durable & chemical resistant
- Hard wearing
- Can withstand forklift traffic
- Easily applied by a roller and paint brush to cut in the walls
- Rapid cure formula means less downtime and your floor can be ready in a day
- Non-flammable, virtually solvent free & odorless formula
- Ready for traffic in 6 hours
- Covers approximately 240 sq. ft. per kit

How to Apply
Surface Preparation
The concrete surface must be clean, dry and free of loose material. New concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to coating. Remove oil, dirt, grease and other chemical contaminants by cleaning with detergent or another suitable cleaner. Rinse thoroughly. Use Cemtetch® Self Etching Cleaner to remove unsound laitance and create a proper surface profile to the concrete. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry before the application of the Safety Coat. Previously coated floors need to be in good sound condition with proper adhesion to the concrete substrate. Glossy finishes should be sanded to provide a surface profile. Wooden surfaces should also be sanded. Two or three coats may be required on open textured surfaces such as chipboard. Not recommended for use onto metal or latex leveling compounds.
Mixing
Combine the base and activator components into a clean 2 gallon or 5-gallon plastic or metal pail. Use a paint paddle or spatula to scrape out and transfer as much of the material as possible. Mix the components thoroughly until an even, uniform color is achieved. If using a power mixer use a paint paddle or spatula to blend in any unmixed material from the sides and bottom of the pail. Do not mix more than one unit at a time. Immediately pour the material into a roller pan and do not delay the application. The pot life is approximately two hours at 60-70°F. Higher temperatures will reduce the pot life.
Application
Apply in a well-ventilated area when the air and surface temperatures are between 60-90°F. The air and surface temperature must be at least 60°F prior to application. Use a good quality lint-free 3/8" nap roller with a phenolic core. The first coat of Safety Coat will act as a priming/sealing coat on most surfaces. The second coat should be applied as soon as the first coat is dry (approximately 12 hours at 60-70°F). Do not exceed the maximum coverage of 240 sq ft per kit. Occasional stirring of the product will ensure a more even distribution of the aggregate. In exceptional temperature conditions, please contact a Watco Industrial Flooring Expert at (855) 627-6350.
